Some of the best tools for building your business come at no cost. We have put together a list of some tools that can help you design and promote your business when you are just starting out:

Wix has become pretty well known over the last few years. Today, Wix is the biggest player in the website building landscape and hosts a whopping 160 million websites.

Wix offers an excellent drag-and-drop site builder to create small starter websites. There are 100s of free templates available. Wix provides its own web hosting as well as domain names (free and paid). The App Market makes it easy to add extra functionality such as photo galleries or eCommerce. Wix connects all of your digital assets. The marketing and SEO tools make it easy to market your site to new customers. You can also connect your email, Google analytics, create email campaigns, manage invoices and more! We do suggest spending the little extra to upgrade to a premium plan which will remove Wix ads and allows you to connect your domain.

If you need to create a website on a dime Wix is a great solution. We have worked with many clients to optimize the layout and graphics on their Wix site to create a simple, sleek professional website on a budget.

Canva is a simple to use graphic design tool that you can use on a desktop or mobile app. It allows you to make images and designs for the web or for print. Since being founded in 2012, it has nearly 1 million users.

If you are looking for an inexpensive program to design social media posts or event flyers Canva could be a good solution for you. We do suggest upgrading to the pro account which will grant you access to more photos, fonts, organization options with unlimited folders, ability to make animated gifs and more!

Vistaprint was created with small businesses in mind – and we love it… for printing! You can upload your own design (or one that we create for you) and have it printed on a variety of stocks and finishes. The turnaround time and customer support are phenomenal. We advise against using their templates – your marketing materials should be authentic and unique to you.

Your email signature is personal. Reimagine your email signature with this revamped tool from HubSpot that generates a free email signature you can use to give your emails that added professional touch.

Photography has always been an integral part of design. In an ideal world, everyone would have a bank of authentic and fantastic photography that is unique to their business – but we totally understand that not everyone has the budget for that. Thankfully, there’s been a growing number of websites that provide beautiful stock photography that isn’t cheesy and the traditional ‘stock’ type of image. Best of all, they’re free!

Hootsuite allows you to manage all your social media in one place. From finding prospects to serving customers, scheduling and auto-posting to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Hootsuite helps you do more with your social media. There are paid plans however if you are like most startup businesses you will be able to join for free using the unlimited free plan which allows you to connect 3 accounts.

Email marketing is an excellent, cost-effective solution that gives you the power to connect with your audience in a place they visit every day – their inbox. With Mailchimp, you can promote your business across email, social, landing pages, postcards, and more — all from a single easy to use platform. You can use Mailchimp for FREE using the basic plan with less than 2,000 subscribers. Plan increase as your audience grows which makes it the perfect tool to use for startups!

Last but not least: set up your Google My Business profile. One of the most vital tools to help grow businesses’ online presence is Google My Business. Once set up, it allows a business to show in their local area with ease, transforming the process that customers now take in finding the information, product or service they require. AND IT IS FREE. Please make sure you have one set up for your business!
